You are cordially invited to attend Nebraska’s Inaugural Golf Day on April 29, 2010, 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at Wilderness Ridge Golf Club, Lincoln, Nebraska. The Nebraska Golf Course Superintendents Association, the Nebraska Club Managers Association, the Midwest Golf Course Owners Association and the Nebraska Section PGA will join allied golf associations to celebrate the first annual Nebraska Golf Day. The purpose of this event is to educate state leaders, the media, and other key figures on the economic, human, and environmental benefits of golf. Nebraska Golf Day also demonstrates how the allied golf associations join as a coalition to speak with one voice about issues important to the game of golf.
Rolls and coffee will be served from 9-9:45 a.m. The ceremony featuring Governor Dave Heineman will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by Governor Heineman and others teeing off at the first tee box.
This new coalition is gearing up to tell the stories of golf’s diverse businesses and their employees, the tax revenues it creates, the tourism it spawns, the charity it generates and the environmental leadership it provides. Golf is a major industry with a profound impact on America’s economic, environmental and social agendas.
For example, there are approximately 28.7 million golfers in the United States. The golf industry is responsible for 2 million jobs in the U.S. and generates $61 billion in wage income annually. The golf industry raises approximately $3.5 billion for charitable causes each year. Golf course irrigation accounts for 0.5% of the 408 billion gallons of water used daily in the U.S. and fewer than 15% of golf courses utilize municipal water supplies.
Special thanks to Wilderness Ridge Golf Club for hosting Nebraska’s Inaugural Golf Day and to Thad Franklin with Nike for your generous sponsorship. We look forward to celebrating this special event with you! Please RSVP by April 21st to Katy Post,

Joe and Anna Hadwick Scholarship and Research Tournament
The 11th Annual Event
Monday, May 10th, 2010
Happy Hollow Club, Omaha, NE
So what’s in a name? This is the 11th annual tournament honoring the Hadwick family and Joe & Anna in particular. The reasons to support this outing go far beyond a tribute to these wonderful folks. It’s a chance for all of us to show our support for the NGCSA, and the causes that are important to us all, scholarship and research. It is also an opportunity to network with fellow members, other industry leaders, club officials or maybe just your best friend. It’s early May, the bugs and the heat are just around the corner. Come out and enjoy one of the premier golf courses in our state. Sign up now for this important event at Happy Hollow Club in Omaha. The field is limited to 120 golfers, so get your reservations in early. While you are at the tournament, be sure to thank Superintendent Scott Axon, golf professional Mike Antonio and all the staff at the course for hosting. It’s sure to be a great time. So what’s in a name? Everything. See you there.
For the Tournament Committee,
Bob Hall

On behalf of the members and staff of Happy Hollow Club, I would like to welcome everyone to the annual Joe and Anna Hadwick Scholarship and Research Tournament. Being a transplant from across the river, it didn't take long to realize how important the Hadwick name is to the golf course industry in Nebraska. I can't think of a better way for Happy Hollow to support their legacy than to host this event.
After spending three of the last four years in the remodeling stage, although we're never done here, it will be fun to get everyone here to enjoy a great day for a great cause. The club is offering full support of this event and we hope to make everyone's day as enjoyable as possible. Hope to see you on May 10th!
Scott Axon, CGCS
